This has been a difficult week
Deaths, shootings, craziness is filling the airwaves and the social media feeds. As a follower of Jesus and as a leader of a church I have felt like I need to do something. We need to pray and we need to act – but as a white male, I need to be sensitive and listen first, because I don’t understand the issue in the same ways as my brothers and sisters of color.
I have a dear friend who is an African American pastor. His church is hosting a potluck Sunday night and The Table will join them there. Below is the information and a link to the event on Facebook. Please consider attending. I am encouraging us to participate in this event because of my relationship with Pastor Paul, but if there is someone that you are connected to or a place in your own neighborhood where people are gathering together to listen, to pray, and to act like Jesus–go and do that!
Now is not a time for Jesus-followers to be quiet or invisible.
Please stand up against violence, injustice, and racism. Please pray for our communities – both people of color and for our law enforcement officers and elected officials.
Now is the time for us to be the Church!
A time to HEAL, HEAR, and HELP!
We need to come together…to hear, help and heal. Join Grace Outreach Church for a time of facilitated conversation, reflection and prayer
